Video Format
LecCorder captures, digitizes, and encodes audio and video recording of a class or seminar in a high-quality, archival digital video format (MPEG1). The high-quality MPEG1 video stream is stored, and automatically converted to an Internet-quality media stream (H263). Standard codecs are used for video conversion. There are no proprietary "black box" features in the LecCorder system.

Lecture Content
Along with the audio/video recording, LecCorder also captures presentation content delivered within a web browser. Powerpoint presentations stored in html format, and standard web pages are two common presentation formats that work very well with LecCorder.
LecCorder indexes the captured media streams, and synchronizes them with the presentation material. In this way, the flow and tempo of the presenation is preserved in the LecCorder playback.

Publishing
LecCorder publishes all files needed to play back your lecture to a standard web server. LecCorder publishes these files automatically, eliminating the an error prone and time consuming process. LecCorder users can customize templates for publishing their lecture. The user can select Internet-quality or Intranet quality (or both) contents to be published.

Playback
For Internet playback, LecCorder provides Java audio, video, and Web content playback tools for asynchronous playback over the Internet. No plug-ins or helper applications are necessary.
For Intranet and other high-speed networks, LecCorder provides full-screen, 30 frames per second VHS-quality video playback using Microsoft Media Player.
